With the development of science and technology, Artificial Intelligence(AI) has played a more important role in military combat systems from the combat level to tactical and operational levels. In order to study the current situation and development trend of AI, a review and summary is conducted on the science and technology development of AI field overseas in 2022. The development of foreign AI is summarized from the perspective of strategic planning, organization and R&D investment in the world's major countries. The United States, Russia and other major countries have increasingly strengthened the top-level layout of AI in terms of strategic planning, institutions and R&D investment. The key technology fields such as machine intelligence,bionic intelligence, swarm intelligence and human-machine hybrid intelligence technology are developing rapidly, and many important achievements have been made. The application of AI in military fields continues to deepen, including air warfare, land warfare and naval warfare, and the pace of installation and empowerment is accelerating. Finally, some advices are given for improving the military intelligentization level, such as strengthening the top-level strategy, tackling the key technologies of AI and fastening the operational application of AI, et al.
